Typical Sunday
Another typical Sunday for me.

Morning:
Week-end (hand) washing. Yet to learn how to use one of those washing machine. Besides, Mak had just hand-over her old washing machine to my cousin for tinkering or dumping, whichever applies.

Watering the lawn. Bunga raya tanglung pruning.

Rearranging my two tote-bag contents. Lately felt more and more like Rory Gilmore. One tote-bag for my akhirat reading material. One bag for techie reading material. No wonder my shoulders felt like an imbalanced dacing.

Week-end Chauffering(10.30 am):
Pick Mak up from kebun. Take pokok asam keling for Bapak to replant. Leave Bapak to continue with his gardening and fishing.
Send one of those labu air (Bapak & Mak labour of love) to Pakcik's house.

Continue Journey to Keramat via Pekan Kepong-Jalan Kucing-Jalan Pekeliling-Jalan Semarak-Jalan Kent. Stopped at Lorong Kiri 16 to pick up Bingka Bombai for Cik Tun's merisik.

Send Bingka Bombai to Cik Tun.

Transit at Makwo's house for Mak's three o'clock appoinment with Cik Tun's merisik entourage. Had Nasi Dagang lunch made by Mak Ngah. Must find time to experiment with the remaining of my Rice King Somali. This King Somali is really berani air. Last time I tested, one cupful of King Somali required 3.5 cup or water, before it's tanak (properly cooked). Not like those Beras Wangi; takut air. If not careful, might end-up with bubur eksiden.

Watched Anita. {Don't have Astro at home lah, even RM45.00++ cannot fit into my monthly budget}. Nice programme on Anita - Bukan ku Pinta {or something like that, don't have photographic memory like Mahathir lah }. Bukan ku Pinta is a program about our Warga Istimewa. Learn about many things from our Mr Rasul, Mrs Rohana, the doctor from Disease Control {forgot his name}, Mr Tuah the lawyer. Reminds me not to judge ppl with their outward appearance, not to take advantage of the 'handicapped priviledge',fighting spirit,no such thing as limited capability; we can always learn and make others understand better , etc.

2.30pm: Send Mak Ngah for her Sunday OT at ChipPack. Drop Mak at Taman Keramat to join Cik Tun's entourage. Return back to Makwo's house to pay myself hutang tidur. Was still dizzy from the Putrajaya trip.
4.45pm: Pick up Mak. Drop by at Giant Permata. Packed like sadin. Sale or something. Return to Sg Buloh via Lingkaran Tengah 2.

One the way home, refuel and check tyre pressure at Petronas Paya Jaras.
6.45pm: Reached home.
9.00pm: Watched Mahathir on TV3 while ironing my working dress. Muslim woman must look presentable {Just learned from Ideal Muslimah; Chapter Two} via Pak Adib's blog.
10.30pm: Do a bit of reading on Instant Palm OS Applications.
5.30am (Monday): Mak woke me up. When did I fall asleep ?

Visit to Putrajaya
This is how I'm going to spend my Saturday-working-day.
Will depart at 8.10am.
Hope we have enough time to visit one of our 'drop-point'; Taman Botani. I'm taking my copy of 'Herba & Perubatan:Tradisi Zaman-Berzaman. Maybe I can spot some of them plant. Am also hoping Taman Botani sells one of those 'high-value' herbs. Not Tongkat Ali lah!
I bet some of the ladies (moi, inclusive) hope we have time for Souq, too.

Ta Ta. Wish me safe journey!!

At-Tur the 52nd Surah
At-Tur (The Mount)
52nd Surah
Revealed in Makkah
49 Ayat

{Mentioned in 'Wahyu' programmed, aired by RMKL, yesterday(Khamis) morning (5.30 am) and evening (5.45pm)
Ustaz Haji Ahmad Shukri of PPZ was discussing tafsr of Surah An An'Am (The Cattle), ayat 39}

6:39 Those who reject our Signs are deaf and dumb,- in the midst of darkness profound: whom Allah willeth, He leaveth to wander: whom He willeth, He placeth on the way that is straight.
}

It is reported that Saidina Umar Al-Khattab fell sick for 30-days when he heard the recitation of Surah At-Tur, ayat 1 to 5.

52:1 By the Mount (of Revelation);

52:2 By a Decree inscribed

52:3 In a Scroll unfolded;

52:4 By the much-frequented Fane;

52:5 By the Canopy Raised High;

This event showed the 'value' of Saidina Umar Al-Khattab's 'Iman' to the Wahyu of Allah.

What about ours? Have we tried to polish it as blogged by Pak Adib ?

M. Bakri Musa's Malay Dilemma Revisited
{Read the "Intro..." chapter on "Malay Dilemma Revisited..." last night. I almost gave up while trying to locate this book at the library. The first time I went there in the evening, the book was nowhere to be found. The next day, I followed my intuition and when there again. Voila(not a bad intuition, eh), 2 copies; one reference and one available for loan. Alhamdulillahi rabbil 'Alamin.

Must be a popular book. Judging by number of copies kept, and most of them are still charged to borrowers...}

My initial comment:
1) Very simple (but effective) Language
2) hmm, now I (thought) I know what sort of economy policy favoured by IMF, and what sort favoured by Dr. M . I thought lah. Don't know much about economics. Took only three credits (one subject) during my Uni. year
3)Maybe I can go thru the summary (by M.Bakri Musa) of Malay Dilemma written by Dr. M. Then I can go find the book.

That's all for now. I'll blog again(Insha Allah) about it later, when I finished reading the book, or ready to make an overall comment.

P/S: Thanks to the SuaraMalaysia blogger who featured NizamZakaria interview with M. Bakri Musa, I found about this book.

Zikr from Al Qur'an
{Heard halfway thru the above topic on IKIM around seven(ish) this morning. Couldn't recall the ustazah name, but thought I could recognise her if she were to be featured again on TV.She has a mole on her face, probably near her chin below her lips. A few months ago, the ustazah and her husband were featured on TV1. If not mistaken she served meehoon or yellow mee, or maybe spaghetti 8) for the TV-journalist who covered the story}

Anyway, I want to share a little something with you on the above matter.

1)The simplest zikr favoured by Allah. This kalam is not from Qur'an: recitation of
Subhanallah, walhamdulillah,walailaha ilallah, wallahu akbar
You can recite it any which way you desire. Either in the above sequence, or any sequence, or each Subhanallah (as many times), Alhamdulillah (as many times), Lailaha ilallah (as many times), Allahu akbar (as many times).

2)The best zikr is Tilawah(Recital of) Al-Qur'an.

3)Or you can search zikr from the Qur'an.

4)The best way is to learn the qalamullah in the Qur'an is to learn them and then teach to others.

5)Those who read and amal the Qur'an, his/her parents will be crowned with Nur. When the parents ask why are they treated in such honour, they will be answered," it's due to your son/daughter who reads the Qur'an.

6) One hurf in the Qur'an read, the reciter will be rewarded 1 X 10 good deeds (pahala)
Alif Lam Mim - 30 good deeds
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim - 190 good deeds

Israa Wa Mikraj
(Isra & Miraj)

Many Mosque(s) and Surau(s) hold special kuliyyah commemorating the miraculous journey that happened on 27th of Rejab when our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was taken for a journey:

Isra': from the Sacred Mosque (Masjidil Haram)in Makkah to Masjidil Aqsa in Baitulmaqdis

before

Mikraj: ascending to(the first, second,third...until seventh) Heaven.

Isra' & Mikraj happened when when our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was 50 years old.

From last Monday, Ustaz Wan Sohor Bani has been incorporating the lessons-to-be-learn from this special event in his Tazkirah Zikrah programme aired by RMKL. For those who love "Jalan-jalan cari Masjid/Madrasah", tonight (after Maghrib? after 'Isha?)they can catch his Kuliyyah at Masjid Muaz bin Jabbar, Titiwangsa.

I haven't reached that level (of "Jalan-jalan...") yet, but who knows. One day...

Last night the surau in my neighbourhood held this special kuliyyah after 'Isha.

Nicholas Sparks's Message in a Bottle
Read NS's novel last Saturday night, before I tucked in for the night. Thought about doing a synopsis.But didn't think it would do justice to his writing skill. Kinda like the original cover. But the one that I read was from the movie. Well, beggars can't be choosers.

Garrett is a man who loves deeply, but also a man who loves forever : p39
Unfortunately he's a man with a burden.
He needs time to realize that tho' he has only one heart to offer (and it has been offered in the past, to someone he loves deeply) , it can be shared.. He was reluctant to let go off the past
Tho' painful as it may be, the lesson was for Theresa to learn,and she has to learn it through the hardest way...

I thought the ending was brilliant. I didn't know the actual story behind the ending or what inspired him to write this piece until after I finished reading it and ready to blog about it. To avoid any future spoilers, I think I shouldn't read the Background Info... until after I've finished reading any of his book.

Anyway, go find this book and read it yourself, if you must. Or if you're not into reading, go find a DVD or something...

P/S: The cover reminded me of a dialogue between Matt Damon and Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting. Ah, another blog, maybe.

Lessons from Surah As-Sajadah vide Khulasah Al-Qur'an

Surah As Sajadah
32nd Surah in the Qur'an.
30 Ayat(s).
Classified as Surah Makkiyah(except for ayat 10-30, which were delivered to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Madinah.

Lesson #1:

Creation of Man
Ayat 7,8 and 9

32:7 He Who has made everything which He has created most good: He began the creation of man with (nothing more than) clay,

32:8 And made his progeny from a quintessence of the nature of a fluid despised:

32:9 But He fashioned him in due proportion, and breathed into him something of His spirit. And He gave you (the faculties of) hearing and sight and feeling (and understanding): little thanks do ye give!

Lesson#2:

Reward for the Mu'min
Ayat 19

32:19 For those who believe and do righteous deeds are Gardens as hospitable homes, for their (good) deeds.

Reward for the Disbeliever
Ayat 20 and 21

32:20 As to those who are rebellious and wicked, their abode will be the Fire: every time they wish to get away therefrom, they will be forced thereinto, and it will be said to them: "Taste ye the Penalty of the Fire, the which ye were wont to reject as false."

32:21 And indeed We will make them taste of the Penalty of this (life) prior to the supreme Penalty, in order that they may (repent and) return.

Lesson#3:

The journey of Prophet Musa to guide Bani Israil
Ayat 23 and 24

32:23 We did indeed aforetime give the Book to Moses: be not then in doubt of its reaching (thee): and We made it a guide to the Children of Israel.

32:24 And We appointed, from among them, leaders, giving guidance under Our command, so long as they persevered with patience and continued to have faith in Our Signs.

The essence of the Qur'an (Khulasah Al-Qur'an)
{Amid the hectic weekend (an-80km-trip-family-gathering, another 80km-trip-lontong-delivery-chore,baby-sitting,week-end-washing,etc), managed to flip thru a few books. The problem is, I do a lot of page-jumping; forewords, last page, then only the content. Sometimes the reading of the content itself is done after a few days lapse (amid other page-jumping), hence repeated page-jumping.}

First thing, first. I borrowed two volumes of Khulasah Al-Qur'an: Kunci Memahami Pembicaraan Al-Qur'an.
Khulasah Al-Qur'an was published by:

Institut Al-Balaghulmubin
Sultan Haji Omar
Ali Saifuddin
Jariah Sultan
Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (An-Nur)
Rong Cenok, Pasir Mas
Kelantan

'Khulasah..' is a method devised to simplify the understanding of the content and hikmah of the Qur-an. It was devised by Allahyarham Maulana Ahmad Ali Muhaddith based on the teaching of Waliyullah Dehlawi.

During the British occupation, many students from Malaya not only went to Makkah and Egypt, but also India to further their studies. One of them was Allahyarham Maulana Haji Abdullah Noh (Pasir Putih, Kelantan) who went to India to study the Qur'an and Hadith from Maulana Ahmad Ali. He came back to Malaya before WWII.

One of Allahyarham Maulana Haji Abdullah Noh's student was Allahyarham Wan Ismail bin Wan Nawang.

Ustaz Wan Ismail bin Wan Nawang arranged and published Khulasah Al-Qur'an. Two days after delivering the book to Dato' Biji Sura Haji Mohamed bin Nasir, Ustaz Wan Ismail bin Wan Nawang passed away. May Allah bless his soul.

Dato' Ustaz Yusoff Zaky Yakob and his assistance helped review 'Khulasah...' before it was published in form that I'm currently (on-and-off) reading.
BTW, just read from Pak Adib's blog that Dato' Ustaz Yusoff Zaky Yakob passed away three years ago. Kinda spooky, eh. Bloggers tend to blog along similar path...

Khulasah divided chapter for each surah into bite-size lessons.

Shah Waliyullah Dehlawi magnum opus (great work): Hujjatul Al-Balighah

Found this while google-ing for Khulasah

Hajah Midvalley
I nearly wanted to (self-)proclaim myself as Hajah(Midvalley) MySanctuary today, having completed the tawaf around the Jusco-parking-section in Midvalley. This is sorta my second pilgrimage actually, as yesterday I was temporarily Hajah(UH) MySanctuary after only managing to find parking space at Level 5B (each level has A and B, so you can imagine...) in University Hospital Parking Block.

I don't fancy shopping as my hobby, tho' window shopping is not bad at all, and can be considered as reward, considering all the hassles one has to go through to get the parking space.
I just need to find Maybank with counters and human tellers as I was having problem transferring monies from one account to another (maybe this target account has a low limit, that it's being `virtually blocked'; I don't know, ask the bank) . Besides parking at Midvalley only costs RM1.00 during weekdays, compared to RM3.00 near PUTRA-LRT Bangsar. Don't you dare mention another area in Bangsar !

The other day, I was doing a favor for a friend who needed a ride to go to UH ( feel like getting myself one of those tanks when climbing steeply to higher level. Maybe the parking block was built for tanks, hmm...)

Thanks to both my lady-friends who were patient and cool, all the way through this little adventure. One of them even took the initiative going out of the car, scouting for space and `booking' it for me.

The only thing that prevents me from going insane, is that I'm still crazy about driving (eh?). Maybe this due to the fact that I joined the `driving force' at the age of 32 and I've only clocked 55K mileagekilometrage. That's why I'm still mabuk-kereta...

P/S: No wonder men hate shopping
